Why Become a Missionary
for Catholic Youth?

The founding principles of the Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani consider education fundamental, not only to eradicate poverty, but also as a decisive means for keeping young Catholics actively participating in the Church and by educating practicing Catholics to be better disciples in their families, parishes and communities.

The Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani was established in 2014 as a small IRS tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit public foundation to offer Undergraduate Interest-free Loans and Scholarships to desiring Catholic youth who wish to further their education. When the Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani was started: we made a bold promise — 100% of all public donations would go directly to our Undergraduate Interest-free Loan and Scholarship Programs. We’d depend on the Board of Directors and Volunteers donations to cover our operating costs. Three years in, we’re still keeping that commitment!

Therefore, 100% of all Missionary for Catholic Youth donations are applied directly to our Undergraduate Interest-free Student Loan and Scholarship Programs.

The Need

For the past sixteen months Academic Years (2017 Winter Semester – 2018 Summer Semester), The Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani awarded $11,000.00 of Interest-free Loans and Scholarships to young Catholic adults who are parishioners at St. Rose of Lima in Gaithersburg, St. Mary’s in Rockville, and St. Martin of Tours in Gaithersburg. This upcoming Academic Year of 2018 – 2019, there are twenty-two young Catholics who have registered for e-mail alerts and expressed an interest in receiving financial assistance for their undergraduate education.

Pledge a minimum of a $600.00 tax deductible donation per year (just $50.00 a month) to help young practicing Catholics to be better disciples in their families, parishes and communities. Your support and prayers will help young people actively involved with the Church by assisting them financially and spiritually in obtaining their college degree or certificate.

The Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani will add a brick to our virtual wall to show the spiritual strength, payers and financial support as a Missionary for Catholic Youth. The Foundation of St. Gemma Galgani offers three different ways to engrave “your brick” for your commitment as a Missionary of Catholic Youth:

• Your Name, Family Name, or Husband and Wife Names (i.e., John Q Doe, The Doe Family, or John Q. and Jane M. Doe)
• In Memorial of (Name, Family Name, or Husband and Wife Names)
